Negotiating difficult relationships

Negotiating relationships with our peers, bosses, parents, children, friends and everyone else with whom we come into contact has to be one of the most difficult and important jobs that face us. Daily, relentlessly, we liaise with others face to face, on the phone, by email, text, WhatsApp, on the dreaded social media.

When those relationships are positive, life and work become productive and enjoyable, however, when we run into obstacles in those relationships, life and work stumbles and falls – the bottom line literally falls when the people in the business aren’t happy and fulfilled.

The relationships we have with each other are what separates us and they make life delightful, bring joy but they can bring heartache and pain. Many of my coachees bring up at least one difficult relationship that they need to work on and work out. It might be a new boss with a different approach and attitude from the old one, who used to champion them. It might be a business partner who seems to have lost sight of their original passion for the business and is behaving oddly as a result.

Given the peace and calm of the coaching environment, a fresh pair of eyes and some insightful questions, these difficulties can be unpicked in order to help navigate these working relationships. If you want to talk through a difficulty you are currently going through with someone at work, please get in touch for a free half hour consultation and chemistry check.
