Why Crescendo?

Last week I posted about the first year of Crescendo Coaching. Over the year and especially after that last post, a number of people have asked “why Crescendo?”

My starting point was the reasons that people were asking for coaching – being their best self, improving self-confidence, managing ourselves around others, seeking promotion or a better role in the workplace, wanting to make a change but being held back by something, being more effective and so on. At the bottom of all this seemed to be a desire to use their voice and to be more effective.

Back at school, I played the flute and piano and loved music theory (strange, I know, it’s the bit most musicians dislike doing). In music, crescendo means a gradual increase in volume. While loudness in and of itself isn’t necessarily a good thing, being heard and being listened to is so very important to all of us. To me, crescendo is becoming loud enough to be heard and having people want to listen. It’s about finding your voice and, through coaching, amplifying its effect. Hence Crescendo Coaching.

Coaching gives you time and space to dig deep, explore, help you find your direction and to make yourself heard.
